Important update - KAMU has indicated that because of the limited amount of funds and the number of dentists who have agreed to participate in the Urgent Dental Care Program, that as of right now, they cannot accept any new providers. We thank everyone who is participating in this program and if you were not able, we hope you will join us in another project like this in the future.

DENTAL PROVIDERS NEEDED

Kansas Receives Grant to Provide Urgent Dental Care for Adults with Dependent Children

The KDA is assisting to recruit private practice dentists that will open up their office for ONE DAY to see patients that qualify for the Kansas Urgent Dental Care Program (KUDCP).  Approximately $1.2 million is available to Kansas to fund the program through a federal ARRA (Stimulus) grant, but the funds must be used by Sept. 30!

KUDCP will provide necessary dental care to adults with dependent children.  Services will range from exams to full dentures, with reimbursement available for services delivered up to September 30, 2010. The Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved (KAMU) is the intermediary through which dental providers will submit invoices for reimbursement of services.   Dental services will be reimbursed to dentists at the Medicaid rates.  THIS IS NOT MEDICAID…YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN UP AS A MEDICAID PROVIDER TO PARTICIPATE!

The KDA is encouraging dentists to participate by opening their practice on Friday, Sept. 17 (or another day prior to Sept. 30) to receive KUDCP patients.  Area social service agencies will pre-screen patients for eligibility and refer a pre-determined number of patients to participating offices at 8:00A (or other time).  It is suggested that the dentist evaluate patient needs (similar to KMOM) and arrange their schedule for the day accordingly.  For example, some patients may be asked to return for treatment later in the day.  Following treatment a standard ADA Claim Form needs to submitted to KAMU for payment.

If this is a program in which you are interested in participating, please contact the KDA office 785.272.7360/800.432.3583.  We'll pass your information on to KAMU which will ask you to sign a letter of understanding regarding to program.  Thank you.
