Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas invites you to attend a Webinar, Credentialing the BCBSKS Network, using WEbEx. Due to ACA requirements, BCBSKS will be credentialing all providers within its provider network. Join Linda Pracht as she provides more information regarding credentialing and completing the CAQH application.
If you are currently using CAQH you don’t need to attend. This is an educational opportunity to learn how you can streamline the credentialing process by using a data collection resource that is confidential and free for the practitioner.

As stated in the D-2-13 and the D-4-12 Blue Shield Reports, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is underway with credentialing the CAP network as required for health plan accreditation through URAC. On the following pages, the BCBSKS Policy Memo No. 4 is reproduced, which includes the credentialing policy that became effective February 1, 2013. Going forward, all dentists will receive the Dental Policy as well as Policy Memo No. 4 to supplement the contracting provider agreement.
Credentialing Verification Organization
In an effort to help manage the volume of providers needing to be credentialed, BCBSKS has entered into an agreement with Credentialing Corporation of America, Inc. (CCA) to perform primary source verification and work directly with providers in gathering the needed information. If you have not already completed your online CAQH application, please do so at your earliest convenience to help facilitate a smooth credentialing process. In the absence of having an online CAQH application, BCBSKS will mail a hard copy application to be completed and returned. It is important to be responsive to any requests you receive from either BCBSKS or CCA to complete the credentialing process. Thank you for your assistance with helping us complete the credentialing process in a timely manner.
Adding New Providers to Existing Group
BCBSKS strongly encourages groups and practitioners that are adding providers to their current practices to complete a CAQH application at
http://www.ksinsurance.org/industry/company/online_credent.htm immediately upon hire or prior to hire for a more timely credentialing consideration. In accordance to the URAC requirements, until the provider has been credentialed, they will not be added to the BCBSKS network. THIS IS A CHANGE from our historical procedures where a new provider joining a group was set up within the group upon starting employment. The effective date of the new provider’s participation with BCBSKS will be the date of credentialing approval. As such, we advise that the new provider not see any BCBS patients until they have been credentialed to avoid any claims issues resulting from providing services prior to becoming a network provider. Your assistance to start the application process early on in the hiring process will help expedite the credentialing timeline to obtain a network participation status prior to seeing patients.
