Kansas Predental Consortium (Live Coverage)

logoForty eight students attended the first Kansas Predental Consortium in Lawrence on Saturday, according to Conference Chair Leigh Reynolds, Fort Hays State University Pre-Dental Club President.

“The event went very well,” Reynolds said in an email to the Kansas Dental Association.   “Next year we plan to expand the registration to one hundred since this years’ number of allocated spots filled up in advance.”

Speakers at the event included Karen Finstad, Executive Director, Delta Dental of Kansas Foundation, Lucynda Raben representing Delta Dental of Kansas, Tanya Dorf Brunner, Executive Director of Oral Health Kansas, Karily Taylor of Marian Clinic, Jenni Ferguson from the Bureau of Oral Health and KDA Executive Director Kevin Robertson.

“I thought the event went well,” said Robertson.  “I talked about some of the KDA issues, dental school and the KMOM project.”

In addition, the KDA tracked the event through social media throughout the day on Saturday (see stream below).  Numerous social media interactions throughout the event by those in attendance helped propel the story to one of the KDA’s biggest news stories of the week.

Plans are already underway for next year’s event which will be held at Fort Hays State University.

“We will begin work on getting other speakers to the event,” said Reynolds. “In the meantime, we’ll gear our social media to inform Kansas pre-dental students on issues they need to know.”
