The State of Kansas is inviting the public to a meeting in Topeka to provide comments on the progress of the KanCare “Section 1115” demonstration project. This post-award forum has been scheduled for the first hour of the meeting, on Tuesday, June 25, at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall Auditorium, at 120 SW 10th Avenue in Topeka, Kansas. The forum is being held with the next meeting of the KanCare Advisory Council. Interested individuals can learn about the progress of KanCare and how the State and three managed care companies are operating in accordance with the special terms and conditions of the “Section 1115” waiver granted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The state will draft a summary of the comments made during the forum and include the summary in the KanCare quarterly and annual reports. Under the Section 1115 Demonstration Project, Kansas will operate a statewide Medicaid reform effort that expands managed care to most Medicaid state plan populations with physical, behavioral, and long term care services and support. KanCare hosts a weekly operator-assisted conference call specifically for providers of Home and Community Based Services. On this call, providers can discuss KanCare-related issues with KDADS and the three KanCare health plans. These calls are on Tuesdays from 11:00 am-12:00 pm, beginning May 14.

The KanCare program began conducting the then-daily operator-assisted stakeholder call on Dec. 26, 2012.
