Silver Spring, Md. – The Food and Drug Administration launched a version of theFDA.gov website accessible to users of “the most popular mobile devices” including smartphones and tablets while continuing to support traditional desktop and laptop computers. Web pages offering FDA’s “most popular content,” including recalls, safety alerts, consumer updates, agency news and blogs, adjust to the device user’s screen.
The FDA said it will focus on extending the first phase of this responsive design approach across the entire website. Mobile visits to FDA.gov increased over a 12-month period from 12.5 percent to 24 percent, the agency said.
