KDA members gathered this morning at the Hayden Building north of the Kansas Statehouse for its annual legislative Dental Day. Despite the snow which blanketed the state on Tuesday, dozens of dentists were still able to make the trip to Topeka. The session began at 9:00 AM with updates from the KDA legislative, lobbying and communications teams discussing the issues facing dentists throughout the state.
KDA members traveled across the street to the capitol for meetings with legislators and sitting in on the House of Representatives before returning to the Hayden Building for a luncheon with legislators.
“We had a nice visit with the Governor at lunch,” said Dr. Bob Smith of Prairie Village, a regular attendee at Dental Day. “I talked to Representative Kathy Moore at the Capitol, but she wasn’t able to come over to the lunch.”
The legislative luncheon was well attended by both legislators, dentists, as well as Governor Sam Brownback who also attended.
“Dental Day is a wonderful opportunity to actually sit down and talk to the representatives, our senators and the Governor,” said Smith.
Following lunch, the KDA held a Board of Delegates meeting.
